Built from the best bloodlines in the world.
Since 3-S Ranch was founded, we have run a working breeding program alongside our hunts — importing red stag embryos from New Zealand, refining lines of fallow, axis, and sika, and stocking other ranches with the kind of animals our own clients ask for. Live animals, frozen genetics, and stocker releases — available to vetted operations.
Why we went 8,500 miles for our genetics.
When Randy decided 3-S would have its own breeding operation, he didn't shop the Texas market. He went to New Zealand.
New Zealand red stag herds have been selectively bred for trophy class, antler character, and disposition for more than a century — longer and more disciplined than anything available in North America. Building a foundation from those genetics meant importing embryos, not just animals: every frozen straw was a hand-picked combination of sire and dam, transferred into our own hinds here in Bedias.
The result is a herd whose pedigree starts where the world's best red stag genetics live, then matures on Texas grass under the same climate, the same forage, and the same hands that will eventually guide the hunters chasing them.
That same philosophy — pick the bloodline first, then build the herd around it — runs through every other species program at 3-S.
- Embryos imported from New Zealand — the most selectively bred red stag bloodlines in the world
- Embryo transfer into 3-S hinds for full pedigree continuity
- Stags raised under Texas conditions before being released, sold, or hunted
- Records kept on every animal — sire, dam, year, antler class
Ten-plus species. One ranch. Years of records.
Our deer programs run year-round; antelope, oryx, and rare species programs run alongside them on dedicated pasture. Every animal is documented and can be vetted for fence-ready release or live-haul sale.

Also active: blackbuck, waterbuck, père David's deer, buffalo, and others on rotation. Availability changes by season — the inquiry below routes directly to Chris Stewart, our ranch manager.
Four ways to take 3-S genetics home.
Live Animals
Live-haul stags, hinds, bucks, does, and rare-species pairs. All animals are halter-broken to handling and shipped with current health papers.
Semen & Embryos
Frozen semen from proven sires and surplus embryos from documented matings. Sourced from our own NZ-derived red stag program and selectively bred fallow lines.
Stocker & Release
Fence-ready animals raised on Texas forage and prepared for transfer to other high-fence operations. Coordinated drop-off and adjustment guidance.
Custom Programs
Multi-year supply, AI services, herd-building advisory for new operations, and bloodline matches against your existing animals. Inquire for scope.
"We usually sell 15 to 20 stags and around 35 hinds a season."
That's the cadence — a measured offtake from a herd that grows on the same ground our hunters walk. Every buyer is vetted; every animal leaves with a known pedigree.
The science is in the family.
