USFWS-Permitted Conservation Hunt

Barasingha

The 'twelve-tined' swamp deer — rare, regal, federally regulated.

USFWS Endangered-Species Permit Required

About the Barasingha

Barasingha — literally 'twelve-tined' — is the swamp deer of the Indian subcontinent, prized for the elegant, sweeping multi-point antlers that give the species its name. It is a federally regulated species that 3-S is permitted by USFWS to hunt and conserve.

Mature stags carry golden-brown coats that deepen through the rut and a crown of antlers unlike any North American deer. They favor the wetter grassland edges of the ranch.

Like our red lechwe, every barasingha hunt operates within the USFWS permit framework that channels a portion of the hunt back into the species’ future.
